Known for its party atmosphere, Patong Beach in Phuket boasts a wide range of markets, stall and shops, white sandy beaches filled with sun lounges and colourful beach umbrellas, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, hotels and resorts. Patong Beach Phuket is able to meet the requirements of the budget conscious traveller as well as those seeking high end luxury accommodation. Many resorts are only metres from the beach and provide gym, spa, swimming and children's facilities.
After Patong Beach, Karon Beach is the next most lively beachside region of Phuket. Like Patong is has a great range of shops, restaurants, lounges and bars just metres from the soft white sand of Karon Beach. With accommodation suitable for budget as well as high end travellers, Karon Beach caters to a variety of visitors. Many resorts provide kids activities and facilities making the area popular with families.
Only a 15 minute drive from Patong Beach is the beautiful white sand beach retreat of Surin Beach. With a laid back atmosphere and less crowds Surin Beach is great for swimming, snorkelling, surfing and kayaking. This region of Phuket is well known for luxury boutique hotels rather than the mega resorts found in other areas of Phuket.
Home to the Laguna Phuket complex, Bang Tao Bay also has a stunning beach. The Laguna Phuket is a large resort complex with five luxury resorts, amazing shopping and a range of dining choices. Other resort accommodation is also available on the outskirts of the Laguna complex. Bang Tao Bay is renowned for beach club style restaurants that are 'on the beach', as well as the great list of activities available, shopping, horseriding, golf, diving and snorkelling.
Other Phuket Accommodation Regions
There are also many smaller beachside regions in Phuket such as Cape Panwa, Karon Noi Beach, Kamala Beach and Mai Khao Beach to name but a few. Also known as Relax Bay, Karon Noi Beach is a slice of heaven located between Karon and Patong beaches. Cape Panwa located on the south east coast is a remote tranquil escape great for boating and fishing. On the north west coast Mai Khao Beach is located in the pristine area of Sirinath Marine Park. Kamala Beach, 5 minutes south of Surin and 10 minutes north of Patong is the home of Phuket Fantasea, a popular attraction.
